Food and wine pairing is a highly subjective and inexact process. The old rules — primarily red wine with meat and white wine with fish and poultry — just don't work with today's complex, subtly flavored, multi-ethnic foods.
The Art of Pairing
To get a food and drink pairing right you must discern aromas and flavors in both the wine and the food, and be able to imagine them blending well together. Rarely does the menu planning process, for the rehearsal dinner or reception, include a professional pairing.
Which is why our service is so necessary. Over the years, The Food and Wine Diva has developed an affordable, easy-to-implement service that can create winning combinations your guests will appreciate and enjoy.
When you hire us to pair your food and drinks, we work with your reception caterer to find a wine, beer, spirit, or cocktail (or even all three) that will complement your menu. Then when you meet with the caterer for your menu tasting, we bring the wine or beer we recommend for each course. As you taste each dish, we guide you through each combination to ensure you make the right selections for your menu, theme, and palate. In addition, we work with retail partners and can often make arrangements for you to purchase your wines at a discount.
Fee: $200 for 90 minutes, plus the cost of wine.
